Gentry Galaxy Cycling

Middle school and high school student-athletes may elect to participate on a Gentry Galaxy team, a school-based team alternative to club sports and the state high school league. Teams will travel throughout the country to compete, selecting from thousands of races nationwide.

The Gentry Academy Cycling Program is an integrated school-based development model with a focus on the endurance disciplines of road, track, cyclocross, and XC mountain biking, and the following outlines the core elements, focus, and the planning and support framework provided to Gentry Galaxy athletes.

For student-athletes competing at Beginner/Sport, U15 (13-15, UCI/USAC Junior C) levels, the program will focus on the fundamentals of cycling which includes training and cycling basics and sport-specific skills. Student-athletes will participate in track, cyclocross, and XC mountain biking, and they will receive an introduction to road biking.

For student-athletes competing at the Comp, U17 (15-16, UCI/USAC Junior B) level, the program will be focused on training and learning to compete, and it will focus on building and refining skills, building stamina, and building competition skills. Student-athletes will participate in track, cyclocross, XC mountain biking, and intermediate-level road biking.

For student-athletes competing at the Elite, U19 (17-18, UCI/USAC Junior A) level, the program will be focused on competition, and all training is geared toward competitive racing. Student-athletes will refine race skills and train with specific purpose. Student-athletes will participate in track, cyclocross, XC mountain biking, and advanced-level road biking.
