Gentry Academy partnered with 4th Street Dance Centre (4SDC) to offer dance to our students. 4SDC is recognized as one of the top ranked competition dance studios in Minnesota. Gentry Academy’s dance program will combine 4SDC’s fun and competitive training with our belief of providing excellence in academics, leadership and athletics/arts. We set ourselves apart by cultivating extremely talented dancers and prepare students to achieve their goals and ambitions outside of the dance studio.
We offer classes in tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, pointe and hip-hop. Our classes focus on technique, artistry, fitness, discipline and fun! Our instructors do more than just teach technique and edgy choreography, they also instill morals and values in our dancers.
Students who select dance for their W.I.N. time elective will be transported to the studio, which is located one mile north of downtown White Bear Lake. The studio is a fun and healthy environment that promotes and fosters responsibility, teamwork, dedication, passion and a strong work ethic.
Our program promotes a healthy balance between dance, family and other activities. Our dancers are taught to achieve their goals and ambitions without having to invest a harmful amount of time and commitment in the studio. Keeping our dancers passionate, challenged, motivated and happy is our top priority!

Ellie is not only the assistant director of dance, but also teaches language arts at Gentry Academy. Ellie discovered her passion for dance at three years old, but it wasn’t until she joined 4th Street Dance Centre (4SDC) in middle school that she found her true home and dance family. During her time at 4SDC, Ellie competed as a Shooting Star, Shining Star, and Star and was on the hip-hop teams. She also worked for the studio for many years as a junior assistant and assisted during the summers of her college career.
After high school, Ellie attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She danced on the school’s competitive dance team in the styles of jazz and hip-hop, which gave her the opportunity to work with renowned hip-hop choreographers Alvin Ramirez and JC Renzetti. The team competed nationally and Ellie led her team to finish in the top ten of their division all four years she was on it. In her junior and senior year, she was made captain/coach. Ellie recently graduated from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education and teaching english to speakers of other languages.
After college, Ellie attended the PULSE dance convention in New York City and took hip-hop classes at Broadway Dance Center, where she worked with choreographers Ian Westwood, Dave Scott and Eric Negron.
